Miami’s Best Toddler Music Classes
Jam with Jamie
JAM WITH JAMIE
Jam with Jamie started in 2008 in New York City when musician Jamie Kolnick expanded her children’s music classes into a full-time business. Her classes became so popular that she had to hire other entertainers in the theater community, who she trained in her method. Today, Jamie has 60 performers across nine cities—from Manhattan to Miami and Dallas to San Francisco. They are all taught the same songs, moves and structure—with an emphasis on fun.

“Our classes are an interactive experience,” Jamie explains. “It’s a musical conversation with kids and their grownups. I only hire performers with the right spark. You can’t do this unless you love what you are doing and love children and families. And each performer has their own bag of tricks.”
The various instructors’ “secret sauce” is their theater background and live music experience. Songs range from classic favorites like “Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes” and “Wheels on the Bus,” to more contemporary hits such as “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. The contagious “Twist & Shout” gets tiny bodies gyrating in seconds. The party-like atmosphere spans Freeze Dance, Lummi sticks, shakers, free play, bubbles and, of course, the colorful parachute.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need to bring anything to class?
We suggest wearing loose clothes that are comfortable to jam in.
Can both parents attend the class?
Due to capacity rules, most classes generally allow one parent or caregiver to attend class with their child. However, we are always open to hosting both parents if space allows. Parents are also encouraged to sign up for our outdoor classes in the Design District if they want to attend as a family.
How early should we arrive at State of Kid before the class starts?
We recommend that you arrive five to ten minutes before your class starts. We do have a steady flow of classes throughout the day, and we start promptly. Please don’t be late as it disturbs the other students and instructor.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can find our detailed cancellation policy HERE.
What if my child misses a class?
State of Kid is not responsible for unattended classes during the semester. If your child needs to miss a class for any reason, the class is non-refundable.
Do you offer makeup classes?
We only offer makeups for classes that have been cancelled due to conflicts at State of Kid or conflicts with our instructors. Due to the nature of our schedule and our small class sizes, we cannot offer makeup classes for kids unable to attend a class.
